How to apply your artwork to your wall using standoffs

When it comes to hanging wall art or signage in your commercial space, standoffs are the best product out there to make your artwork pop out from the wall and create a ‘wow’ factor feature wall.

What is a Standoff?

A standoff is a small piece of hardware that attaches to a sign and secures it to the wall. Standoffs are made up of a barrel, cap, and wall screw. Standoffs allow signs or artwork to actually ‘stand off’ from the wall. This helps to create an attention-getting 3D effect around the artwork.

To Apply your artwork you will need:

– Pencil
– Rubber (if making a lot of lines)
– Spirit level
– Screwdriver
– Raw plugs

How to Assemble Sign Standoffs:

  1. Measure your sign and mark the wall where the wall screws will go – use a spirit level to make sure the sign will be perfectly straight.

  2. Drill pilot holes where marked using a drill bit that’s slightly smaller than the width of the supplied wall screw.
TOP TIP: Pre-drill your pilot holes for accuracy.

  3. Take your standoff and unscrew the cap from the barrel.

  4. Screw the wall screw through the bottom of the barrel and into the pilot hole – do this for all the holes in your wall art.

  5. Line up your wall art with the barrels on the wall so that the holes in your sign are right over the barrels.

  6. Screw the caps through the signage and into the barrels – this will secure the sign in place.

  7. Stand back and admire your new wall art.

  8. Send us a photo of you next to your new Squark Design wall art so we can promote your business on our social media!
